FROM A WOMAN’S VIEWPOINT THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF EATING LESS

PMS, bad news from the boss, a parking ticket—many women eat when they feel down and are likely to turn to food to pick up their mood. But they have also developed strategies that help them resist their emotional eating. Many women use the avoidance tactic—no ice cream or chocolate in the house, no walking past the bakery on the way home from work.
But womens favorite strategy is the emotional rescue—talking about their problem with friends and family members. Talking things out often helps them feel better and, at the very least, helps them figure out ways to curtail their impulses to eat in response to emotions.
