The Emotional Impact of Eating Less

Reducing the calories they consume is the only way men and women can lose weight. But anybody whos ever tried to shed a few pounds knows its easier said than done. Despite the fact that there are so many excellent strategies women and men can use to help themselves and each other scale back their eating, emotions can get in the way.
How women and men think and feel ultimately affects their eating behavior. And the reality is that even under the same circumstances, women and men often have very different emotional responses to eating, and those responses can cause them to overeat rather than cut back.
Take food cravings, for example. Even though men dont necessar- ily refer to them as cravings (see chapter 4), just about everyone who is trying to eat less and lose weight experiences them to some extent.
